What will SMAL Legal services cost me?

We get it. There is nothing worse than being sold into a fantastic service and have no visibility online about the costs.

First of all - there is a reason! Legal questions are unique and it’s really difficult to develop a ‘one size fits all’ approach to pricing.

One thing we can absolutely promise- there are NO timesheets and costs are agreed upfront. That’s the SMAL Legal difference.

Our Pricing Model

Different clients have different needs

SMAL Legal offers a wide variety of legal services encompassing a huge variety of possible legal issues that clients may have.

Some of them are easier- a terms and conditions document is relatively straightforward. What is not straightforward is reviewing marketing materials and websites or responding to a regulatory investigation. Clients have different needs:

  • Some clients may need their hand held and want more explanation about the advice

  • Some clients want ongoing advice over a long period of time 

  • Some clients just want a grab and go product.  


The SMAL Legal Pricing Model

Our pricing model is based around what you need and what you value as a client based on our initial discussion. During our initial consultation, we will discuss your needs, goals and expectations about your business, your immediate legal needs and potential future legal requirements. 

After this point, we will go away and scope your legal requirements and offer you a personalised pricing document with different service and budget options. This allows you as a client to choose the services you need based on your requirements and budget. Our pricing model is based on outcomes rather than time. The document will outline all inclusions from legal outcomes to the amount of progress reports you can expect throughout the duration of the engagement. The pricing specified in the pricing document will remain fixed if the scope remains the same.

What SMAL Legal’s pricing is NOT

SMAL Legal’s pricing is based on outcome and not time. There are NO timesheets. You do not need to be afraid to pick up the phone or ask about clarification on advice and be acutely aware that the lawyer has pressed their little ‘billing button’. Life happens and projects are dynamic- and you should feel comfortable that when you communicate with your lawyer on necessary information that it will not cost you extra.

There are circumstances that projects change - and that is a discussion we are more than willing to have! See below.

What about changes of scope?

Once we have agreed upon an option, we get to work! Yet- legal projects can evolve. During the project expectations and circumstances can change. This means the scope can also change. If this occurs, SMAL Legal will inform you immediately and adjust accordingly.

This does not necessarily mean that prices change. That may be the case, but this could also mean deadline delays or quality changes. This is something that we can talk about and discuss.
